Overview of Makalu Base Camp Trek

Mount Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world is situated in the eastern region of Nepal. This trek is best suited for experienced trekkers as it is considered as not so easy treks in Himalayas of Nepal. This is a beautiful trek which lies in the region of Makalu Barun National park. Due to its remoteness, very few people take this journey. The unique and lush beautiful scenery of Arun valley makes this trek very special. This area offers mesmerizing views of Arun valley with magnificent sights of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Baruntse. This off the beaten path trekking trail starts with a flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar. From Tumlingtar we will take a drive to Num which is the starting place of our trek. Most part of this trek has ascends and descends and is considered as quite a challenging trek, but the beauty of Barun valley and the richness of National parks make us forget the difficulty of the journey. The trail is full of rhododendron forests, amazing waterfalls, beautiful cliff and glaciers which make this journey full of excitement. The trek has rich bio diversity and altitude variations from 400m to 5500m in the south eastern ridge of Mt. Makalu. You also get to communicate with the local villagers and get a chance to learn their culture, lifestyle & traditions.
